BULLETIN THE FIRST

Regulations:

The essential aim of this popular event is to raise as much money as possible by whatever means for Macmillan Cancer Support, whilst at the same time enjoying a competitive classic car tour which is linked to the format of long distance trials and rallies which were organized and run between the 1930's and the 1960's.

Article 6: Check points. At all controls, vehicles should stop and then, unless otherwise stated, must proceed in a forward motion when instructed to do so by the marshal. Any movement in a reverse direction, unless required to do so on a detailed test, will, withy the entrant's agreement, incur a fine of £2.00 per car, which will be donated top Macmillan Cancer Support.

Secret Checks: Traditionally this classic car tour has included Secret Checks. These are incorporated to encourage following the recommended route that has been selected to provide both the connection with motor sport venues and a challenging, yet scenic, drive suitable for cherished classic cars. Entrants who fail to record in ink the information required prior to the following manned control, or who fail to obtain a stamp on their Control Cards will, with their agreement, be fined £4 per car, which sum will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Article 10: Penalties. Apart from those detailed in the Event Regulations, to achieve a Penalty Free Performance, entrants must:

    1. Not incur any faults as per Article 6 Check Points (above)

Main Event Sponsor:

We are pleased once gain to receive sponsorship from Scott Burridge Commercial (Nick Seaton-Burridge FRICS - Jaguar E-type). Consequently, in recognition of that assistance, it is requested that its decals be displayed on your vehicles. These will be posted to you together with your Touring Plates in the Final Bulletin.

Pre-event:

As you will be aware, there will be complimentary canapés and wine at the Royal Hotel at Ullapool on Saturday 21 April 2012. (Birthday of Her Britannic Majesty.) This will commence at 6.00pm (1800) during which the Event Director will provide an overview of the whole tour. All have been booked into the hotel for the Opening Dinner and overnight accommodation. (Royal Hotel: 01854 612181 - info@royalhotel-ullapool.com)

Maps:

A comprehensive Road Book will be supplied at 'signing on' at Ullapool: that should enable entrants to follow the recommended route without the need for detailed maps. However, please be aware that to keep costs to a minimum, thus ultimately benefiting the cancer charity, the route has only been driven once in the latter half of this year.

Mileages given, which are not subject to query, are taken from the odometer of the car used for route planning, a Honda CRV. A comparison with your own readouts may be made en-route to Keodale. (Cape Wrath embarkation point.) An Atlas of Great Britain is recommended to provide an overview of the route each day. (Or a set of Ordnance Survey Travel Maps numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. Scale 1" to 4 miles)

Auctions:

It has been traditional that during at least one evening that an auction of 'items' ranging from tangible objects such as vases through to pampered weekends, chalet holidays, boat trips or track days have been expertly held by our resident auctioneer, Paul Edwards (Morgan Plus 8)

These auctions have assisted in the raising of even more funds for the cancer charity and it will be of immense help if you can add to the list. Please advise the Event Director of details in order that they may be incorporated into your Road Books in advance for your perusal en-route

Fundraising:

Just a reminder that all of the money raised both before, during and after the Tour will go directly to Macmillan who will be more than pleased to assist with entrants' efforts Contact Emma Wright, Fundraising Manager 07834 192247, or your own Macmillan regional Fund Raising Manager.
