This website is designed and managed by Peppertree Services on behalf of all those wonderful classic car owners who, over the past eight years or so, have raised over £400,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. These crews, made up from expert rally and trials drivers as well as total novices, give up their spare time to prepare their elderly cars to ensure that they, and their crews, manage to complete what is a very tough event. Many of the participants have their own stories and involvement in cancer
Many years ago, I managed my own website, pr4motorsport.com, designed to keep running commentary on motorsport events that other members of the RAFMSA and I had entered in our classic cars. This eventually became uninteresting and out of date. However, one page was dedicated to the stories and reports of the 'Grand Tour - Cape to Cape' fund raising events. After a couple of years of involvement, I decided that a dedicated website might prove a better medium for promotion and reports, as well as some photographs, of individual tours.
Hence, a new dedicated site was launched in time for the sixth tour. This iteration is a further development of the original website and, hopefully, with more interesting information.
I have also added a direct link to the Macmillan donation site so you, the reader, may feel like donating having read the stories and looked at the photographs of these great classics. In which case, all we cancer sufferers and survivors thank you. Every penny helps.
Although the site is managed from my own personal computer, this is not MY website, it is designed to enable all those who take part in the Tour, or just have an interest in it, may access up to date news and snippets. It is also available for participants to add their own comments and stories - personal or otherwise. Please use it as such.
